New Tools Showcase San Leandro’s Retail Opportunities
Retailers and brokers can now quickly and easily access information about available retail sites in San Leandro at sanleandro.org/retail.
A New Online Hub for Retail Opportunities
The new Retail Opportunities page on the City of San Leandro’s website serves as a centralized hub for information about available retail sites across the community.
The site brings together key property details, links to marketing brochures, and other relevant information in a clear, easy-to-navigate format. Visitors can quickly review potential retail locations and learn more about the characteristics of each space.
The page also highlights recent retail openings in San Leandro and nearby residential development projects that are expanding the city’s customer base. There are great opportunities for new retail to grow alongside increasing housing and population.

A Simple, Data-Driven Flyer for Retail Brokers
The City has also released a concise retail attraction flyer designed specifically for brokers and real estate professionals.
The flyer highlights key data points about San Leandro—including strong demographics, market indicators, and testimonials. The City has a strong customer base and regional connectivity, including access to major freeways and Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), and is committed to supporting businesses through economic development initiatives and resources. The flyer also includes a QR code that directs readers to the Retail Opportunities webpage, where the most current information is always available.

Looks good but how about making business more diversified too? Making it easier for the potential business owner to set up vs giving them so many obstacles to overcome and delays in approvals? I’ve been living in San Leandro for over 30 years and it makes me sad to see the retail go down hill and how unattractive many business fronts look with trash or just just empty spaces. When a new business does fill a space it’s likely to be a nail shop, barber shop or hair salon….sometimes same type of businesses just feet from each other. Myself and several others I know choose to drive out of the city to do our shopping where it feels safer and there is free parking to shop. The city has so much potential with a downtown, parks and a Marina! San Leandro needs more beautification and it needs to feel safer to want to do business here. Look at Alameda and Castro Valley…they are doing something right.
