Carrington and San Joaquin Valley Colleges Join Forces to Offer Expanded Training at Bayfair

A new, co-branded campus of Carrington College and San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) opened its doors for the San Leandro community. A ribbon-cutting celebration was held on November 6, 2025 to celebrate the renovated and expanded facilities for Carrington and San Joaquin Valley Colleges at Speedway at Bayfair (15555 E. 14th St.). This marked an exciting moment in San Leandro and Speedway’s education and workforce-development story. It was more than a formal ceremony—it was a statement of commitment to San Leandro’s future: students, employers, local families, and employers all gathered to mark this step forward.

This partnership between Carrington College and SJVC is rooted in a strategic alignment:

• The two institutions have aligned their academic programs so that SJVC leads in trades education, while Carrington focuses on healthcare education.
• At the San Leandro location, the “co-branded” campus now welcomes students of both schools under one roof: Carrington offers programs like Pharmacy Technology, Dental Assisting, Medical Assisting and Veterinary Technology, while SJVC brings in programs such as Electrical Technology.
• Importantly, the campus underwent a major renovation: Carrington recently expanded into a newly renovated first-floor space designed to enhance learning for healthcare students.
  As campus President Madeleine Gardner noted, “With the addition of SJVC, we’re now able to serve even more students and expand our impact across industries that keep our communities strong.”

There are several reasons this matters for San Leandro and the broader East Bay community:

• It strengthens the local workforce pipeline. Students completing trades programs (like Electrical Technology) and healthcare credentials will help fill gaps in growing sectors—right here where many commute and work.

• It anchors investment in our city. The renovation and program expansion signal a belief in the neighborhood, in our students, and in San Leandro as a learning-and-career hub.
• Local employers, the chamber, and city leadership were all present—underscoring that this isn’t just about students, but about community economic health.

Looking ahead, San Leandro is poised to benefit from a growing framework of skilled professionals who were educated right here in our city—healthcare workers, dental and veterinary technicians, electricians, and more. Local employers now have a closer partner for workforce training and talent development, strengthening the bridge between education and industry. For students, the expanded programs, modern facilities, and convenient local access mean that educational and career opportunities are closer than ever before.
