2025 Manufacturing Day: Celebrating San Leandro’s Makers

San Leandro’s manufacturing legacy is alive and thriving — and this October, we’re proud to celebrate it as part of National Manufacturing Day and Bay Area Manufacturing Week 2025.

From food and biotech to advanced manufacturing and clean energy, San Leandro’s makers continue to innovate, hire locally, and build the future of industry.

What’s Happening This Year:

San Leandro Manufacturers’ Tours

Tour a local manufacturer for a close-up and personal look at how things are made. Here’s who is opening doors to the public for free tours:

Dakota Press (14400 Doolittle Drive)
Tour Dakota Press – a San Leandro–based commercial printing company with over 30 years of experience, offering digital and offset printing for everything from books and brochures to catalogs and corporate materials. There are two tours available:
Thursday, October 2 – 10AM – Register to attend
Friday, October 3 – 10AM – Register to attend

Drake’s Brewing Company (1933 Davis Street).
Take advantage of free tours of Drake’s Brewing – a Bay Area favorite – and learn about the process of making their award-winning craft beers. Tours are available on the hour, each hour:
Saturday, October 4 – 12PM-6PM – Register to attend

Mr. Plastics (844 Doolittle Drive).
Don’t miss this opportunity to tour San Leandro legacy manufacturer Mr. Plastics, a full-service plastics distribution, design and fabrication company. There are two tours available:
Monday, October 6 – 11AM
Tuesday, October 7 – 11AM

Manufacturer Appreciation Event

Friday, October 3, 2025
5:00–7:00PM
Drake’s Brewing Co., 1933 Davis St.
San Leandro manufacturers are invited to join the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce to toast local manufacturing and connect with peers in the maker community. San Leandro Manufacturers will need to register for the event. The event is open to Chamber members as well as non-Chamber members.

Careers Without College

Explore careers in construction, manufacturing, auto mechanics, electrical, and more. Talk with local business experts to find where you might fit in! This event is co-hosted by the San Leandro Public Library and the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce and is open to youth ages 14-22 and their parents.

Student Industry Tours

Friday, October 3, 2025
A partnership between Eden ROP and San Leandro schools will shuttle over 300 local high school students to visit area manufacturers and learn about careers in manufacturing. The event will commence at Chabot College with a luncheon and guest speakers. Watch the video from 2015 for a taste of this experience.
